Search me
Had a little peek at DuckDuckGo and it occurred to me that general search is not where the future lies. It seems they have skated to where the puck was, not where it is going.
I sense the puck is heading towards private search of your own data in the cloud. Good examples are the burgeoning Greplin and the super fast CloudMagic. While Google is busy fighting SEO spam and shoving their irrelevant social graph in our faces we’re all happily getting our information filtered by the social graphs and services we actually use every day.
A combination of services (Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Flipboard, Instapaper, Evernote, Pinboard etc.) and many more like them are now storing, filtering and providing us with better and more refined and useful information.
Google isn’t going anywhere any time soon but they do face a slow and inexorable death by a thousand cuts.
